About
Katie Martin is a jazz pianist who has always been passionate about performing and bringing people together.
Katie owned and operated an award-winning Tapas and Jazz Bar and Restaurant in Nelson before moving with her children back to Christchurch in the mid-2000’s.
Since returning to her native Christchurch, Katie has run wine, whisky and gin tastings, catered for whisky tastings at Whisky Galore and is currently the organiser of the Summer Jazz Festival, the Winter Jazz Events at the Old Stone House, Festival Director of the Christchurch Big Band Festival and her newest venture, Ed's Jazz Club. In March 2023 Katie is taking part in running the Jazz at Fat Eddie's series as part of the Jazz and Cabaret Festival. In June 2023 Katie accepted a full time role at Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre as Creative Producer. This exciting poisition allows her to utilise her skills in creating events in these amazing venues and buildings. Come down and check it out!
Katie has made a decision to focus fully on this new role and is moving on from the events she has previously organised. A lot of the events have been passed on to other amazing professionals who continue to promote jazz in Christchurch.
